Could have had a better turn out, from the entire state. Arena was fine, people were great. some were unfriendly to the out of staters.

It was great to be in Alvarado this past weekend, and to spend time with old and new friends. The Friday night welcome event, and the Saturday evening party were even better than last year. Weldon Henson and his band were really fantastic as well. There were some really good performances in the events, and I loved being able to cheer my brothers and sisters on. I’m looking forward to the IGRA finals this year since they’ve been rescheduled to Fort Worth. We Texans are looking forward to welcoming y’all to the Lone Star state, so be sure to come! And, who knows, maybe I’ll find a sexy gay cowboy to call my own... g

It would have been great on Saturday EXCEPT instead of letting the band play so we could keep dancing, they had stupid bar crap for best chest, butt, etc, etc. They had over 325 people and lost about 200 when they started that CRAP! Everyone wanted to dance and enjoy the band but TGRA had to go to same old bar crap and ruined the crowd that was there to enjoy the music and dancing. Get rid of that gay contest crap!!!

I agree with Sportbikedavetx, it was a good rodeo. The only other event going on at the same time this year is Luey in Houston, but that event does not attract as many cowboys as it does the bear and leather community. Still you never know who may show up. I know that TGRA has tried very hard to plan alot to keep people’s interest and the entertainment is one of them. I have been appointed the Dance Chair for Texas and i will also try to do my share in keeping things fun and interesting. So i hope to see people out and at the Rodeo grounds. I know there rodeo is being held between Dallas and Ft. Worth but hopefully everyone will stay at the Rodeo grounds and make it one of the best Rodeo’s that Texas has had in a while. Alot of people have worked very hard to make this happen. Save me a dance...and look forward to seeing you all out!!!

Yes the rodeo was hot but worth going due to the entertainment alone! I heard the low attendance was because San Diego had their rodeo on the same weekend and I knew a few Dallas locals went to San Diego. The live band was awesome and I heard they are coming back this year! The weather should be better when the rodeo happens again in March (2 weeks from now and I’ll be there!!). Everyone I met at the last rodeo was friendly and great to hang out with. The rodeo itself was great as well, just wish more people would of showed up. I bet a lot more will show up for the next rodeo in 2 weeks! See y’all there!

yes it was hot at the rodeo, but remember it is a rodeo not a shopping mall. a little sweat won’t hurt anybody. the super 8 has smoking rooms and is the same price, just tell them your comming for the rodeo. stayed there last time and the rooms were great. frankly i like getting sweaty with a cowboy.

I had a good time. It is Texas in September so I expected some heat. I bet it will be cool in March for the next rodeo.

Sadly the attendance was minimal. The Arena was more than a 45 minute drive from Dallas. The Vending area was so hot and poorly ventilated that business was nonexistent. The food vendors were demanding 1 buck to re ice iced tea! The pluses were the hot cowboys and the amazing array of vendors!

I like the idea that it is all in one place and you can enjoy the event with out having to drive if you don’t need to. The arena is good especially the fans, don’t think we could have sit as long as we did with out them. We couldn’t handle the bar sorry it’s the smoke but that’s any for us.
The programs were nearly useless as what was scheduled please you can do better I know. We like the way we could bring the RV and stay close.
Thank you
Tom & Jim

This always is one heck of a show. This year there is a music festival, beer garden, vendor market and tons of cowboys and cowgirls!

I’ll be happy to put one or two of you up for the rodeo, too. I’m a little further away (in Waxahachie), but it wouldn’t cost you!
